Range II
Range II reduces the bull to a broad dark mass, defined by sweeping horns, rough edges and only a few necessary marks.
Set against a warm cream ground, the figure is interrupted by blocks of rust, orange and ochre. The composition balances an immediately recognizable Western subject with a much more abstract, painterly treatment. Visible brushwork, exposed ground and irregular edges keep the surface loose and tactile.
The limited palette gives the work its structure: deep charcoal-black anchors the centre, while the surrounding earth tones introduce warmth without competing with the figure.
